Abstract:
In the Chinese research contexts, language policy, which usually refers to all the administrative regulations which are made by the government to modify the position, development and function of language , is considered as a macro, implicit government action. However, many foreign studies show that the language policy making, implementation and evaluation is not confined in a country, but also exists in a variety of social communities including working place, religious organizations, schools, families and so on. As the smallest unit of social group, family language policy making, implementation and evaluation are influenced during the family members and are influenced not only among the family members but also by other levels of language policy, playing a guide function. In terms of research themes, perspectives and objectives, this paper analyzes the characters of the current research on family language policy in foreign countries, hoping to supply a new micro perspective for Chinas research on this topic on the purpose of exploring the true conceptualization of language policy.
