Abstract: The results of the survey on 390 rural households who lived in Dianchi lake basin indicate that the majority of famers known correctly the development of sewagetreatment facilities and universally agree on this. Though farmers have strong desires to participate in the construction and management, they understand little about thetreatment process and the requirements of management. So they need to raise general awareness about it. The efficiency of operation and management of rural sewage treatmentfacilities can be improved by constructing effective expression mechanism in famers preference, localizing management model, cultivating compensable service gradually andbuilding a public information platform.
