Abstract: Food sovereignty was proposed in the background of low global food prices in the 1990s in order to cope with the low food prices crisis whichlasted for 20~30 years. But nowadays, since the global food prices roared in 2008, the world faced the crisis of high food prices, so whether the concept of food sovereignty is still useful? This article analyzed the reasons of the present world food crisis, and proved that food sovereignty is still of great significance, lastly concluded that food sovereignty is the only solution to the contemporary food crisis.
