Abstract: Hui Nengs Inscription was written by Wang Wei who was entrusted by ShenHui.This inscription, as the first historical material on Hui Neng we now have seen, narrated the life of Hui Neng in a pithy style and had importantphilological value. In addition, it had rich significance. It not only expounded the theory of the mind of Hui Neng incisively, but also conveyed Wang Weisflexible idea including Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism. And moreover, it represented Wang Weis excellent literary talent.
