Abstract: Confronted with the overwhelming racism, Chinese Americans cultural identity is badly jeopardized. The primary task for Chinese American writer is to subvert the negative image of Chinese American and reestablishtheir cultural identity. Tripmaster Monkey: His Fake Book is one of the most important works by Maxine Hong Kingston, the famous Chinese American womanwriter. By depicting the legendary life of a Chinese American male, Wittman A Xin, the novel subverts the stereotype of Chinese Americans in the dominantculture. And the author succeeds in finding a voice and a place for Chinese People and therefore establishing a cultural identity for them in a societydominated by Whites.
