Ideology and Poetics in Translating Martial Arts Fiction: Take Olivia Mok's Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain as an Example

摘要: 以莫锦屏对金庸经典武侠《雪山飞狐》的翻译活动为案例，就意识形态和诗学对翻译策略的影响做了简要分析，试图说明译者在进行武侠小说英译时应综合考虑译文所服务的意识形态及诗学，并在此基础上进行适当的改编、重创，使目的语读者能够更好地接受。

Abstract: This paper analyzes the Olivia Moks strategies oftranslating Fox Volant of the Snowy Mountain, a martial arts novel by JinYong. It tries to demonstrate that translators need to have an overall idea of the ideology and poetics of the receiving culture. Proper recreation is needed in order to bring the original work to life for a Western audience.
