Abstract: Its useless to learn a language without the sense of the language. Good sense of language is primarily conveyed by phonetics, speech sounds learning is the foundation of new language learning. It is putforword that speech sounds are a symbolic system，which consists of signifier aspect and signified aspect. An idea is fixed in a sound and a sound becomes asign of an idea. Phonetics are a convention adopted by society to enable members of society to use their language faculty. An individual is incapable ofestablishing a speech sound without the approval of the members of society. Speech sounds, like other sounds, have four features, which are sound pith, soundstrength, sound length, and sound quality. When it comes to language learning, it is first of all important to start with phonetics learning. Furthermore,much more attention should be paid to phonetic context training. In order to raise teaching effectiveness, it is necessary to introduce innovative teachingideas and guarantee correct phonetics input in teaching process. If we try applying the principles of semiology in our language teaching activities, we canexpect to achieve a better teaching outcome.
