Abstract:
Engineering education in the institutions of higherlearning in China aims to train professional engineers with good qualities. In addition to general qualities required for the undergraduate, great attentionshould be paid to train engineering quality of undergraduates major in engineering. There is great difference between engineering quality fostered by higherengineering education and that required by the society, main causes for which are deficiency of engineering nature in engineering education andimportance of engineering education for engineering quality training being neglected. This paper, on the basis of practicality, comprehensiveness, economicalefficiency and creativity of engineering education plus characteristics of case teaching method, analyses advantages on adopting case teaching method inengineering courses for strengthening undergraduates engineering quality. In comparison with traditional teaching method, the case teaching one bestows great advantages in fostering engineering practical ability, creativity, engineering consciousness and so on when being adopted in engineering courses, andis terrific approach to cultivate engineering quality of students. At the end, the paper states methods to carry out case teaching in engineering courses incombination with characteristics and requirements of the courses.
