Abstract:
Cognitive Reference Point (CRP) is an essential cognitive ability. It hasstronger explanation to entailment and semantic presupposition. The paper classifies entailments into the strong and the weak, semantic presuppositions intothe absolute and the relative based on CRP. When assigning with new classification to entailment and semantic presupposition, the paper clarifies the problemwhich negation test can't distinguish entailment from semantic presupposition effectively, i.e., weak entailment and relative presupposition coincide. Theproperty, as shown by weak entailment, that the entailment and the sentence can both be true but cannot both be false and relative presupposition, are infact the result of CRP's shift. Therefore, the paper claims CRP provides a new perspective for the study of relationship between entailment and semanticpresupposition.
