Abstract: Yunnan nationalities identification is an important constituting part of Chinese nationalities identification issue. This paper employs literature research method to review and evaluate the research achievement of Yunnannationality identification from two periods of initial practice and research exploration, and it turns out that: present research was just developedcentering on the introduction of Yunnan nationality identification investigation achievement, or just took it as academic supporting material. However,Yunnan nationality identification is not only an important historical event in Chinese nationality development history, but also a significant academic eventin Ethnology academic development event. So it is necessary to further explore the research value of Yunnan nationality identification and develop it into aspecial research project, so as to rethink on nationality identification regional research.
