Abstract:
Time and aspect are two abstract linguistic concepts with differentintention. The separate study of them conforms to cognitive logic. The cognitive semantics and construction grammar open up a new approach to the study oftime and aspect meaning. On the basis of cognitive semantics and construction grammar, the paper discusses the tense and aspect meaning of present perfectiveconstruction, tense meaning being that profiles present, involves the past and coerces future, aspect meaning being that dynamic boundary and distinguishesshift construction from concord construction via tense and aspect meaning. Tense coercion concerning time reference point is discovered in the analysis ofshift construction.
