Abstract:
In recent years, a great number ofresearches have been done on autonomous learning at home and abroad and the research on fostering learner autonomy is the focus as well. In order tocultivate autonomy among English major, a set of training program was designed. Through questionnaire and interview, an empirical research on learnersmotivation, metacognitive strategies and autonomous behavior was conducted. The results show: (1)learners Instrumental motivation exists long and is hardto change, and the integrative motivation has been improved by the training; (2)learners Learning concepts, strategies and selfmonitoring ability havebeen improved; (3)learners can make good use of learning resources, but learners mechanism of self-motivation is still not mature. In the end, the focus of the followup study and some implications has been pointed out.
