Abstract: The United States administrationlaunched National Security Language Initiative in the year 2006. This initiative attached language learning to the importance of the national securitystrategy at the first time. On the basis of detailed analysis and the research of the purpose, the content and the process of the initiative, this paperexplores its enlightenment to college foreign language education in China and points out its significance in the aspect of humanity spirit and interculturalcommunication ability cultivating, and the reposition of foreign languages courses.
