Abstract: Theoretical mechanics is one of the most important curriculums in technology institutes. How to carry on the instructional reform of theoretical mechanics is always a popular topic in many universities. Based on the current teaching patterns, the paper discussed some contents of instructional reform of theoretical mechanics, how to cultivate the self-study ability, and how to train the creative thinking ability to settle the practical problems. Some useful teaching methods of improving teaching quality of theoretical mechanics are introduced and analyzed.
