Abstract: The popular science tourism takes the tourism activities as its carrier, spreading dissemination of scientific and cultural knowledge as its purpose. As a newly emerging tourism form, it can satisfy people′s desire to acquire knowledge in their leisure time. Being the oldest established and one of the largest botanical gardens, Kunming botanical garden has formed a very favorable platform to develop the popular science tourism.Taking Kunming botanical garden as a research subject, by the analysis of popular science tourism resources and tourism development status, this article analyzes and discusses the principles, objectives and measures of popular science tourism development in Kunming botanical garden so that it can offer reference for developing Kunming botanical garden into a place with the science educational function, providing experience and entertainment for citizens to elaborate tourism and environmental education functions of Kunming botanical garden.
