Abstract: In the modern history of newspapers, Morning Paper is among the most prestigious newspapers such as Shanghai Journal, Ta Kung Pao. With a cultural space originated in late Qing popular enlightenment, it illustrated the representation of modern culture in media. Morning Paper Supplement displayed the transformation that the new cultural movement had gone through from being confined to literary circle to popular transmission. At such a time of big change, in the cultural space opened up by Morning Paper, popular education and art practice developed together and the message of enlightenment were found in newspapers, periodicals and plays.
