Abstract:
The existent evaluation system for students in the bilingual teaching of Molecular biology for master postgraduates in agricultural universities in China belongs to a simple “Terminal assessment” which is inflexible and boring, and deficient in evaluating the innovative capacities of the students. It also ignores the improvement and judgment on the gift of tongues of the students completely. Combining organically “Formative assessment” and “Terminal assessment”, paying attention to exciting the interests of the students and assessing the innovative abilities of the students, and attaching importance to the improvement and judgment on the gift of tongues, especially English, of the students should be the main principles being followed in establishing the reasonable evaluation system for students in the bilingual teaching of Molecular biology for master postgraduates in agricultural universities. The evaluation system for students in the bilingual teaching of Molecular biology for master postgraduates in our university is designed to consist of “Continuing assessment”,“Course work” and “Final examination”. The examination methods of “Continuing assessment” include “Continuing work”, “Class quiz”,“Class questioning” and “Class presentation”. The examination methods of “Course work” include “Reviewwriting” and “Proposal design”. The items of “Final examination” are designed totally in English, and “Final examination” is performed without consulting any relative materials. The strategies applying the evaluation system are as follows: telling the students the evaluation system and its examination methods in advance, choosing and assembling the examination methods agilely and embodying the judgment on the gift of tongues in all examination methods really.
