Abstract: Grasping thematic roles is conducive to ascertaining argument number of a verb and then we can master empty category and establish abstract, static, and recapitulative basic structures of Chinese Verbs (deep structure) whose estabilshment, in turn, can guide us to grasp the thematic roles, valence and empty category of concrete sentences and is helpful in our understanding of all kinds of dynamic, concrete variants of structures of verbs. The establisment of the basic structures of verbs is of great help in translating Chinese sentences into English.
