Abstract:
The old town of Huize, which is located in the northeast part of Yunnan Province, is the centre of Dongchuan district in the history. Because of its rich copper resources, the old town has had a long history of copper mining, smelting and transportation. In the Han Dynasty (BC206-AD220), many copper utensils named Tanglang copper utensil was made in the old town and circulated to central plains. The culture, based on copper industry and business was formed in Ming and Qing Dynasties (1368~1911), affected the development of the old town. This culture not only had promoted development of local productivity, made the Confucian culture to be important, but also enriched building culture with connotation.
