Abstract: Contrast is not only a basic way for people to recognize and study objects but also a basic way of language study. This essay briefly introduces English-Chinese contrastive studies and explores the relations between English-Chinese contrastive studies and translation studies. After stating and commenting the status quo of English-Chinese contrastive and translation studies in our country we prospect the future study in this field.
