Abstract: New urbanization makes higher requirements for village spatial distribution. Through analyzing forms, characteristics and defects of Dong village spatial distribution of Dong nationality in Sanshengpo area of Hunan, Guizhou and Guangxi provinces, it is suggested in the paper that current spatial distribution of Dong villages in Sanshengpo should be optimized according to the requirements of new urbanization and sustainable development. The concrete optimization countermeasures were also proposed. The conclusion will have positive realistic significance for promoting the construction of new urbanization, narrowing the gap between urban and rural areas, solving the issues of agriculture, farmer and rural areas, and building a well-off society in an all-round way. At the same time, this research can provide a theoretic and practical reference for village spatial distribution optimization in Dong settlements and the settlements of other ethnic groups as well.
