Abstract: The trend of accelerated urbanization China has experience in the last four decades has positioned the country as the world's second-largest economy, but has also made evident substantial challenges for future development. The Chinese government's recently announced urbanization strategy prioritizes the inclusive participation of minority groups in the country's future urban growth. Public Participation Geographical Information Systems (PPGIS), a participatory data management system for the views of marginalized people, effectively reinforces minorities' participation in urbanization and community development projects. As a result, the wide application of PPGIS technologies should be heavily encouraged.
