Abstract: Based on bibliographical references from 63 doctoral dissertations on plant protection in Yunnan Agricultural University between 2007 and 2012, this paper adopts citation analysis to statistically analyze quantity, kinds of languages, document types, year distribution and journal distribution. Results show that doctoral students of plant protection have very strong demands of literatures in Yunnan Agricultural University. Average number of citations is 203. More than 62.2% of citations are English, 36.3% are Chinese. Journals and books are the most frequently used material formats.The publication years of most citations focus on the past 20 years. Studies suggest that the document resources of library can basically meet the demands of English papers, but library should focus on the timeliness and sufficiency of document collection in the process of the literature resource construction of English papers. Besides, the construction of foreign book resource needs to be strengthened.
