Abstract: Social work is a practical subject. According to this characteristic, the definition and competence of practical social work talents are clarified. This article analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of three kinds of practical social work personnel cultivating modes, that is, the cultivating of general social work personnel in higher education of social work, the cultivating of social work personnel in Multi-department’ s government projects, and the cultivating of social work personnel on practice in social work institutions. Although there are different emphasis, the social workers trained by these methods lack broad theoretical vision and practical. On this basis, a clinical cultivating with special place, clinical course system, high combination of theory and practice, and deep integration of social worker growth path was established, and a new path for cultivating practical social work talents was explored.
