Abstract: With the rapid development of social economy and the acceleration of urbanization in China, land use pattern has attracted more and more attention. Taking Anhui Province as the research area, this paper analyzes the coupling and coordination relationship between urbanization development and intensive land use in Anhui Province from 2008 to 2017 by means of the coupling and coordination evaluation model. The results show that: (1) the level of urbanization development and land intensive use in Anhui Province has been continuously improving; (2) the comprehensive evaluation index of urbanization development and land intensive use, and the degree of coupling and coordination have shown an overall upward trend. The coupling degree and coordination of urbanization development and land intensive use in Anhui Province are different in specific periods, and there are many ways to influence it. There is still a lot of room for exploration. Accordingly, some suggestions are put forward, such as optimizing the operation mechanism of construction land reduction and growth, promoting smart land use, controlling the scale of construction land and optimizing land use structure.
