Abstract:
China has been undergoing a rapid commercialization process with a constant rural-urban labor migration. It leads to the depletion of agriculture, and the hollowing of rural communities. However, a large number of stayers are still living in rural areas. They have made great contributions to their household livelihoods and rural development. It is important to research their livelihood strategies in the agrarian question's framework. In order to analyses their demands and potentials, this article focused on rural stayers, according to the field work in Ge Village, Sichuan province, discovering that rural stayers have various of livelihood strategies. And stayers based on peasant's logics can build and maintain a self-controlled resource base. It can help them better adapt to the commercialization.
