Abstract: With the development trend of modern agriculture, the family farms as an important new agricultural business entities, are highly valued by governments and owners. However, the development of family farms which is still in early stage need to be improved in its quality, fatures and maturity. Based on this, this study selected 30 family farms in Chuxiong city Yunnan province, and evaluated their operational efficiency on input and output indicators by data envelopment model (DEA). According to the result, this paper suggests that carrying out the family farm accreditation, encouraging industrial and commercial registration, creating demonstration farms, guiding lands transfer to family farms, raising the level of management, strengthening the policy support to promote the well development of family farm in Chuxiong.
