Abstract:
The majority of O'Henry's short stories focus on the lives of ordinary people and beauty of human nature. Without exception, A Municipal Report, one of O'Henry's less familiar stories, serves this purpose quite successfully. This novel is a masterpiece in the art of novel writing. It was widely appreciated by readers because of its careful plotting, storyline and the scope of human psyche. However, the most fascinating feature of A Municipal Report is embodied in its unique and diverse writing techniques. This paper explores the portrayal of characters, narrative techniques and rhetorical modes in this novel and appreciates the unique literary glamour of it.
