Abstract:
In the era of digital economy, fully utilizing the utility of modern network communication technology in the process of agricultural development is of great significance for optimizing the allocation of land resources in rural areas and promoting agricultural income growth. This paper empirical analysed the mechanism of the impact of information and communication technology on farmers’ agricultural income based on micro survey data of banana growers in Guangdong, Hainan, and Yunnan provinces. The results indicated that, the use of information and communication technology alone had no impact on agricultural income, and the use of information and communication technology to obtain agricultural information had a significant driving effect on farmers’ agricultural income. Further exploration had found that, 19.6% of the impact of employing information and communication technology to obtain agricultural information on agricultural income was achieved through land transfer. In view of this, the government should step up and improve the construction of network infrastructure in rural areas, guide farmers to use information and communication technology correctly, and train their information utilization ability, classify and manage the information provided by information and communication technology, and provide differentiated support for different agricultural public welfare service information, meanwhile the government should further improve the online trading platform and market information for land transfer, and take practical assistance measures for the groups with different needs.
