Abstract:
Farmers’ returning to their hometowns to start businesses is an important path for rural revitalization, but it faces many pain points such as lacking market information, lacking venture capital and market channels. Based on the systematic analysis of the impact mechanism of digital economy on farmers’ entrepreneurship, and based on the China Family Tracking Survey (CFPS), this paper analyzes the impact of digital economy on farmers’ entrepreneurship in China from 2014 to 2018 by using logit model. The research shows that the digital economy positively promotes farmers’ entrepreneurship by influencing farmers’ entrepreneurial opportunity identification, venture capital acquisition and market channel expansion, and personal characteristics such as spare time online, education level, gender, age, marriage and health status significantly affect farmers’ entrepreneurship. Therefore, we should strengthen the construction of digital infrastructure in rural areas, improve farmers’ education level, encourage all kinds of people in rural areas to actively participate in entrepreneurship, and strengthen farmers’ digital economy literacy, so as to promote farmers’ entrepreneurship.
