In order to investigate the safety of 17-methyltestosterone, Kunming mice were tested for its acute toxicity. The absolutely lethal dose (LD100) was determined 4 500.0 mg per kilogram body weight, and the maximum tolerated dose (LD0) was 1 499.7 mg per kilogram body weight in the pre-experiments. In the formal experiment, median lethal dose (LD50) of methyltestosterone in Kunming mice was determined 2 879.7 mg per kilogram body weight, and the 95% confidence limit was 2 522.3 ~3 287.6 mg/kg body weight. According to acute toxicity grading on exogenous chemicals, methyltestosterone has low toxicity in Kunming mice.
