Abstract
Purpose In order to explore the medicinal values, an extensive chemical investigation was carried out on the branches and leaves of Metadina trichotoma.Method Compounds were isolated by column chromatography of silica gel, RP-C18 and Sephadex LH-20, and their structures were identified by spectral methods (MS and NMR).Results Twelve compounds were finally isolated and elucidated as scopoletin (1),coniferyl aldehyde (2),p-coumaric acid (3),3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde (4),obtusalin (5),oleanic acid (6),ursolic acid (7),ursolic acid lactone (8),stigmasterol (9),β-sitosterol (10),daucosterol (11), and palmitic acid (12).Conclusion Compounds 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 and 12 were isolated from this species for the first time. This investigation enriched the chemical constituents of M. trichotoma and provided experimental evidences for the use of M. trichotoma as a medicinal plant.
