Abstract
Purpose The antiviral activities of tobacco extracts against tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) were studied to provide basis for exploitation of bio-pesticides from tobacco.Method The inhibitory activity against tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) was testing respectively with extracts from roots, stems, leaves and branches of Nicotiana glutinosa, Yunyan 203 and K326 distilled by the half-leaf method, and leaf disk method were used to confirm the validity of the results.Result The results showed that the extracts from roots and stems of this three tobacco varieties showed a good inhibitory activity against TMV.Especially, extracts from roots exhibited the best inhibitory activities and the ranges of inhibition rates were 65.00%-79.75%、64.08%-74.31% and 26.9%-42.40%; The inhibitory activities of the extracts from the stems were slightly weaker than the extracts from roots, but better than the extracts from leaves and branches, and the ranges of inhibition rates were 33.33%-44.25%, 42.82%-66.06% and 10.96%-47.76%. The inhibition effect of the extracts from the leaves and branches of N.glutinosa, Yunyan 203 and K326 was not obvious. Conclusion The extracts from roots of this three tobacco varieties show a good inhibitory activity against TMV, which is valuable to study more.
