Study on the Purification Technology of L-borneolum in Blumea balsamifera

  • Purpose The aim of this study was to provide technological references for the purification technology of L-borneolum which conformed to the standards of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2015 Edition) and have a higher yield and content.Method The yield and content of L-borneolum were used as the indexes, to study the conditions and effects of purification of sublimation, recrystallization and steam distillation of L-borneolum.Results Two methods were conformed to the standards of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2015 Edition L-borneolum; purification techn), and recrystallization was better. The process parameters are to select the squeezed blumea-oil powders as raw material dissolve in petroleum ether in water bath, remove the additional water with anhydrous magnesium sulfate, the solution was filtered and concentrated (30℃, 0.01~0.0 8 MPa), the products were obtained and the content of L-borneol in it was 83.9%. Then the products absolutely dissolved in the petroleum ether at room temperature, 95% L-borneol was gained by recrystallizating, filtrating and drying. The recovery rate of borneol can reach about 80%, the process is feasible.Conclusion This method provides a new technology route for the purification of L-borneolum.
