Abstract
PurposeThe present experiment was conducted to study the effects of different leaves picking amount and picking interval time on cassava growth traits.MethodSC205 was used as experiment material, with the method of two-factors completely random design, to test the effects of different leaves picking amount and picking interval time on cassava plant height, main stem diameter, main stem height, weight of fresh leaves per plant, weight of fresh tuber per plant, etc. Results The plant height, main stem diameter, main stem height, weight of fresh leaves per plant, weight of fresh tuber per plant, etc. were dramatically influenced by leaves picking amount, with significant differences(PF-test. The plant height, weight of fresh stems/leaves per plant and harvest index were affected by picking interval time. Moreover, compared with contrast(CK), fresh tuber weight per plant of all treatments increased. The values of traits including plant height, stem diameter, main stem height, weight of fresh leaves per plant, weight of fresh tuber per plant and unit yield reached maximum under the condition of 30 days' picking interval and 1/3 picking amount after 3 months' growth. Meanwhile, the amount of picked leaves in that treatment ranked the third of all the treatments, which means the treatment of 30 days' of picking interval and 1/3 picking amount after 3 months' growth was the best.ConclusionThe leaf-picking way, under the condition of 30 days' picking interval and 1/3 picking amount after 3 months' growth is recommended for SC205.
