Spatial Temporal Distribution and Suitability Evaluation of Chlorine Content in Flue-cured Tobacco in Hubei Province

  • Purpose Our aim was to understand the characteristics of chloride content of tobacco in Hubei and guide the work of leaf tobacco production of balanced fertilization.Method The statistical analysis and suitability evaluation of chloride content in three parts of flue-cured tobacco from 4 locations were used in this study with 677 samples from 2005 to 2015 by conventional chemical analysis method.Results The chloride contents in tobacco leaf ranged from 0.03%-1.65% of its dry matter, about 80.1% of which distributed in the low level( lower leaves > middle leaves among the three parts and the chlorine contents of Xiangyang and Enshi were significantly higher than those of Shiyan and Yichang. The fluctuation of chlorine content in Xiangyang and Enshi were strong and those in Yichang and Shiyan were smooth among years.Conclusion Hubei flue-cured tobacco leaves chlorine was relatively lack and should be combined with balanced fertilization work gradually ease the tobacco leaf chlorine lack the status quo, to improve the quality of tobacco leaves.
