Application of a Nematicide Agent (Xiandi No.1) From Plants on Panax notoginseng Root-rot Disease Management

  • For a long time, root rot disease, caused by several soil inhabitants, has been one of the most important diseases on Panax notoginseng planting. At present, there are few measures to control this disease effectively. During the previous surveys, we found a nematicide agent from plant extracts (trade name:Xiandi No.1), which was initially used in root knot nematodes controlling, had shown unexpected efficacy on preventing P.notoginseng from root rot disease. As the results, the effects of Xiandi No.1 on the control of P.notoginseng root rot disease was investigated by indoor antifungal tests and field plot experiments. The experimental results showed that, by using of Xiandi No.1 in the field, the incidence of root rot disease decreased to 38.35%, and the relative control effect was 43.30%. Meanwhile, its indoor inhibition rate to Fusarium solani, the main pathogen of P.notoginseng root rot disease, reached 63.12%. Compared with general chemical fungicides, this agent showed more environmental friendly and economical, as well as a competitive performance.
