Investigations of Tobacco Root-knot Nematode in Mengzi City

Root-knot nematode disease is one of the most important diseases on tobacco in Mengzi City. Yunnan Province, which caused large economic loss. In this study, the tobacco root-knot nematode diseases were investigated at main tobacco planting areas Zhicun Town, Xibeile Village and Wenlan Town in Mengzi City. The result showed that root-knot nematode disease rate was 12% in Zhicun Town, 40% in Xibeile Village and 75% in Wenlan Town, which caused great economic losses. Forty-seven samples were collected from these three main tobacco-planting areas, and the nematodes were identified by means of morphology. The result showed that the main species of root-knot nematodes on tobacco in Mengzi City are Meloidogyne incognita and Meloidogyne hapla, and Meloidogyne incognita is the dominant species.
