Identification of a New Root-knot Nematode Disease on Marsdenia tenacissima(Roxb.) Wight et Am

  • The Marsdenia tenacissima(Roxb.) Wight et Am, collected from Mengzi city, Yunnan in 2013, were infected by root-knot nematode. The symptom was observed and the pathogenic nematodes were identified by the morphological characteristic, female perineal pattern, electrophoresis of esterase(EST) and malate dehydrogenase(MDH), and sequence charaeterized amplified region(SCAR) analysis. The disease plants were yellowing and withered. There were many galls on the diseased roots. Through the identification of pathogenic nematodes, it was Meloidogyne incognita(Kofoid and White, 1919)Chitwood, 1949. This was the first reported of root-knot nematode disease on Marsdenia tenacissima(Roxb.) Wight et Am.
