Abstract
The effects of phosphorus (P) levels on the plants growth of sugarcane varieties were studied to provide a scientific basis of high P efficiency sugarcane varieties by a sand pot test. The ROC10, ROC22 and Yunzhe 05-194 were used as materials, and the date including the plant growth, root characteristics, root activity and root P efficiency. The results indicated that plant height and plant dry weight of ROC22,Yunzhe 05-194 were better under high P levels, compared with low P levels, plant height increased by 6.91% and 34.99%, and the plant dry weight increased by 22.59% and 44.92%.Under low P levels, plant height, plant dry weight, root length, root surface area and root volume of ROC10 increased by 19.08%, 20.37%, 68.90%, 19.08% and 99.62%. This study shows that ROC10 grows better under low P stress and showed higher tolerance to low P levels.
