Abstract
In order to investigate the effects of high temperature baking on physical properties of flue-cured tobacco, the appropriate baking temperature, oxygen content and conditioning moisture were selected to study the test and the variation trends of tensile force, shearing force, adhesion, area distribution and tobacco strips structure of 6 kinds of flue-cured tobacco raw material before and after baking were analyzed. The results of different tobacco materials after baking showed that:(1)Tensile force of tobacco decreased significantly. The adhesion increased significantly and the shearing force showed different variation trend. (2) Characteristic area of tobacco strips showed decreasing trend. However, the uniformity coefficient of tobacco strips showed different variation trend. (3) Big leaf rate of tobacco decreased significantly and small leaf, fragment and powder rate increased significantly. Medium size leaf rate didn't budge much. The variation trends of tobacco physical properties showed that high temperature baking had certain negative effects on the processability of flue-cured tobacco. Therefore, baking temperature should not be too high in order to improve utilization rate of tobacco when using high temperature chemical reaction produce a characteristic aroma.
