Advance and Development Trend of Biological Nitrogen Fixation Research

  • The research of biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) is an important content of the International Biology Programme, and it is also the major proposition of life sciences. BNF plays an important role in sustainable agriculture, environmental protection and establishment of ecological nitrogen balance. We mainly introduced the research progress on biological nitrogen fixation from the following aspects: the resources of nitrogen-fixing microorganisms and biological nitrogen fixation system, molecular mechanism of biological nitrogen fixation, marine biological nitrogen fixation, nitrogen fixation in genomics and proteomics, especially highlighted the molecular dialogue between rhizobium and legumes. Meanwhile, we also analyzed the development trend of BNF and summarized the directions of main research on BNF. In the end, we reviewed the research of Chinese biological nitrogen fixation, according to the specific situation of China, we put forward the strategies and methods of spread of Chinese biological nitrogen fixation.
