Abstract
To elucidate the physiological and biochemical changes during post-maturation of seeds in Paris polyphylla Smith var. yunnanensis. The changes of storage material contents and protective enzymatic activity of P. polyphylla Smith var. yunnanensis seed under different storage temperatures were determined. The results showed that the contents of soluble sugar, soluble protein and starch decreased during the stratification process, activities of CAT and SOD decreased and the activity of POD increased continuously with the embryo development. The results of our research will facilitate our understanding of the mechanism of breaking seed dormancy, and will provide the scientific basis for rapid germination.
