Research on Relationship between Floral Colors and Intracellular Environment of Camellia reticulata Lindl.

  • The relationship between flower color and the intracellular environment in nineteen accessions of Camellia reticulata Lindl. was discussed. The results showed that the flower colors of C.reticulata was measured by CIE L*a*b* and divided into four color types, as white (W), pale Pink (PP), pink (P) and red (R). The pH and content of soluble protein were decreased, but the content of soluble sugar was increased with the flower colors of C. reticulata were changed from pale pink to pink to red. It is important significance to reveal the mechanism of flower color formation for C.reticulata.
