Accumulation of Gallic Acid and Quercetin in Different Positions and Growth Periods of Penthorum chinese Pursh

  • Penthorum chinese Pursh as traditional medicine of miao nationality is one of the important raw material for various hepatitis agents, has high economic value. Its main effective components are gallic acid and quercetin. We established a method for simultaneously determination of gallic acid and quercetin by HPLC. The gallic acid and quercetin content in P.chinese Pursh of different positions and different growth stages were compared.The content of gallic acid and quercetin is different in different positions of P.chinese Pursh. The content of gallic acid is highest in flower and fruit, the second is root and leaf, the lowest is stem.The content of quercetin in root is the highest, the second is flower, fruit and leaf,The lowest is stem. The content of gallic acid and quercetin gradually decreased within the growth period of 90 to 165 day of P.chinese Pursh and the content gallic acid and quercetin has a significantly positive correlation. Leaf should be the main harvested position; seedling stage should be the main harvest period.
