Study on Diurnal Release of Tobacco Plant Volatiles

The volatiles of tobacco plant in vigorous growing stage were collected by headspace absorbent at daytime and night,and their components were analyzed by GC/MS in order to explore the interaction between the diurnal release of tobacco volatiles and insect behaviors.The result indicated that 45 compounds were identified from the tobacco at vigorous growing stage.Forty-five compounds were identified from the sample collected at daytime and 42 compounds from that at night.The amount of 15 compounds releasing at daytime was significantly more than that at night, while the amount of 6 compounds releasing at night was significantly more than that at daytime(P0.05).These 21 compounds are likely to affect the behaviors of tobacco pests.
