Investigation and Botanical Character Analysis of Wild Sugarcane Germplasm Resources of Southern Tibet

Wild sugarcane germplasm resources including Saccharum spontaneum,Erianthus arundinaceum,E.fulvus and E.rockii of southwest and southeast Tibet were investigated and collected from August 2012 to November 2013,totally 74 wild sugarcane germplasm resource materials were collected.The morphological and special characters of these germplasm materials were analyzed.The result showed that the characters such as plant height,stem diameter and brix were different significantly even in the clones belong to the same species, suggested abundant genetic variance existing in these germplasm resource plants.The research results further expanded the sugarcane germplasm resource bank of China,and provided scientific basis for the utilization of southern Tibet wild sugarcane germplasm resource in breeding.
