Purpose To systematically expound the research hotspots and development trends of tobacco green manure models at home and abroad, providing theoretical support for promoting the green and efficient production of tobacco in China.
Methods Bibliometrix tools and combined with CNKI and Web of Science (WOS) databases, the changes of the number of papers published on tobacco manure crop model, important research institutions and scholars, and the changes and trends of research hotspots were summarized and compared.
Results To 2024, the total number of research papers on tobacco green manure at home and abroad was 684. In recent years, the research on tobacco manure crop model had increased rapidly, especially in China. Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and French National Research Center were the world’s most important and productive research institutions. Domestic research had verified the positive regulation of green manure on the tobacco field ecosystem through a large number of field experiments, while the foreign academic community focused more on breakthroughs in basic theories such as rhizosphere interactions.
Conclusion Bibliometric analysis reveals the current state of tobacco-green manure rotation research: the global tobacco-green manure rotations research shows significant regional differentiation, the domestic and foreign research paradigms are quite different, and China has become the core contributing country in this field in the past decade. By integrating basic theory and application technologies bidirectionally, it is expected to break through the regional restrictions of green manure application and provide systematic solutions for the sustainable development of global tobacco areas.
