Research Progress on Physiological and Biochemical Response of Ginger to Intercropping/Relay Cropping

  • Ginger is an important food and medicine crop with high economic value, and its shade tolerance can be used as an important material for intercropping. Reasonable intercropping and relay cropping of ginger can improve the utilization of light and land, and increase economic benefits. This study reviews the effects of intercropping and relay cropping on the growth, physiology and biochemistry of ginger, aiming to provide a reference for the construction of a simple, high yield, and efficient and sustainable ginger industry. It also proposes hot topics that need further research in the molecular biology mechanisms of ginger intercropping, and rhizosphere microecological coordination, prospects for further research direction of ginger in intercropping and relay cropping.
