Macroscopic and Microscopic Morphological Differences in the Leaves of Nine Forage Resoureces of Vicia L.

  • PurposeTo analyse the leaf morphology of Vicia L., providing morphological basis for the classification and identification of Vicia.
MethodsNine Vicia forage resources were taken as the research objects, the macro scopic and micro scopic morphology of leaves were analyzed, and principal component analysis, correlation analysis and cluster analysis were carried out on all indexes.
ResultsThere were obvious differences among nine Vicia species, with the variation range of 0.00%-49.13%, and the genetic diversity index range of 0.00-1.06. The shape of leaflets was extremely negatively correlated with stem pilose density, leaflet pilose density, stomatal index and stomatal density (P<0.01); the stem pilose density was extremely positively correlated with the shape of leaflet tip and the leaflet pilose density (P<0.01), and positively correlated with stipule size, stomatal index and stomatal density (P<0.05); stipule size was extremely positively correlated with the serration of stipules (P<0.01); stomatal index was extremely positively correlated with stomatal density (P<0.01). The results of principal component analysis showed that the cumulative contribution rate of the stem pilose density, leaflet pilose density, stipule size, stomatal index and stomatal density reached 92.02%.
ConclusionThe leaf morphology of nine Vicia species shows rich differences, and the main sources of the differences are stem pilose density, leaflet pilose density, stipule size, stomatal index and stomatal density, which can be used as the basis for classification and identification.
